How does the PCC grading process work?

The PCC grading process follows several key steps to ensure accuracy, security, and consistency:

  • Reception and verification: package inspection and card compliance with your order.
  • Authentication and grading: each card is verified then analyzed in detail. Defects are recorded and the grade is automatically calculated via GradeTool.
  • Editing: printing of the label and grading report with information verification.
  • Sealing: encapsulation of the card in a case sealed by ultrasonic welding, ensuring maximum protection.
  • Finalization: photography (if option chosen), quality control then secure shipping.

Each step is designed to ensure reliable, transparent, and durable grading.

What grading criteria are used?

We evaluate each card according to 4 fundamental subgrades, which reflect the main aspects of its condition:

  • Centrage (Centering): alignment of the print on front and back
  • Coins (Corners): condition and sharpness of the corners
  • Bords (Edges): wear or defects on the edges
  • Surface (Surface): scratches, printing defects, marks or visible alterations
A technology-assisted grading

One of the pillars of our process is GradeTool, our internally developed grading tool.

It combines:

  • a interface dedicated to defect entry
  • an advanced calculation algorithm allowing consistent grade assignment

During analysis, each card is examined precisely (notably using microscopy tools). All observed defects are then recorded in GradeTool, which automatically calculates the final grade based on objective criteria.

Our goal

Our approach aims to:

  • minimize subjectivity
  • ensure consistency of grades over time
  • guarantee full transparency of the process

With this in mind, GradeTool is freely accessible: you can use it to test and understand the grading of your own cards.

Can I dispute the grade assigned to my card?

No, it is not possible to dispute a grade.

During the grading process, the grader only intervenes to identify and record visible defects on the card (CENTERING, CORNERS, EDGES, SURFACE) with the greatest possible accuracy.

Once this step is completed, the final grade is automatically calculated by our GradeTool technology, according to a defined and constant algorithm. This means that the grade is not based on a subjective assessment, but on a standardized analysis of the detected defects.

In this context, a re-evaluation would, in the vast majority of cases, lead to a strictly identical result.

Our approach aims to guarantee:

  • a perfect consistency of ratings
  • a maximum reduction of subjectivity
  • a long-lasting reliability over time
How long does grading take?

We offer 3 processing options in our workshops, according to your needs:

  • Normal
Processing in 30 business days — Free
  • Express
    Processing in 10 business days+ €5 / card
  • Super-Express

The processing time starts from the receipt of your order in our workshop.

Our internal system allows to optimize order processing by prioritizing those with the closest deadline. This guarantees the respect of the announced deadlines for each service level.

How can I track the progress of my order?

From your client area, section «My orders», you can track each step of your order in real time.

Once your cards are received in our workshop, their progress is detailed at each step of the process:

  • 1. Waiting for receipt
  • 2. Received
  • 3. Being graded
  • 4. Graded
  • 5. Being sealed
  • 6. Sealed
  • 7. Shipped
  • 8. Completed (received by you)

All these steps are visible directly from your profile as well as in the details of your order.

How do I send my cards to PCC?

After your payment is validated, you receive a summary email containing all the steps to follow as well as our advice to send your cards safely.

We recommend paying particular attention to the packaging to effectively protect your cards during transport.

It is mandatory to include your shipping slip in your package.

This document is available:

  • as a attachment to your payment confirmation email
  • in your client area, in the details of your order

The slip allows us to identify your shipment and process your order under the best conditions.

Are my cards insured during transport?

For the shipment from the client to our PCC Grading workshop, the shipping cost is your responsibility. You are therefore free to choose the shipping method and associated options. We strongly recommend opting for a tracked and insured shipment (recommended type) to secure your cards during transport.

For the return of your cards, we offer an option called Security Pack. This option insures your cards up to the declared value, thus offering you complete protection during the return transport.
