We have developed a precise and structured grading process offering an accurate and impartial evaluation of your cards.
From receipt to shipment, each step is designed to protect your cards and maximize their value.
Our goal is to ensure premium quality, in terms of technique, procedures, and equipment. Discover the six steps that make up our grading process.
Receipt and verification
Once your package is received in our workshop, the conformity of its contents is checked. Each package is identified using the barcode on your order summary. We unpack the package and verify that the number and names of the submitted cards match your order. In case of an error in the card description, your order will be paused and you will be contacted immediately.
If you have subscribed to enhanced security insurance, your cards will be stored in a safe between each of the following steps.
Grading
Even before noting imperfections, the authenticity of each card is verified using several criteria such as weight, dimensions, and behavior under intense or UV light. Some criteria are specific to each TCG, for example the color-matching of the swirl on the back of a Pokémon card.
Once the card is authenticated, it is analyzed through professional magnifiers and specific lights to detect any defects. Each defect is entered into our GradeTool grading tool, and our algorithm calculates the scores of the 4 subgrades and the final grade. To ensure consistent grading over time, our experts are only responsible for detecting defects; the score calculation is entirely managed by our algorithm. For more details on grading, see our
grading system.
Prints
Printing the label and grading report
Labels and the grading report are automatically printed from the database and the information is verified again. The grading report is printed in a special format, allowing it to fit perfectly between cases when stacked. Cards receiving the perfect score on the 4 subgrades get a star next to the overall grade.
For more information on these special labels, see the pages dedicated to the
label and the
grading report.
Sealing the case
First, the static electricity of the case is eliminated using an anti-static gun. Coupled with compressed air blowing, this preliminary step eliminates the risk of dust being sealed inside the case.
Then, the case sealing is done by ultrasonic welding. This process guarantees a uniform weld without temperature rise, thus preserving the card's integrity. It ensures airtight protection against dust and humidity and makes opening the case impossible without breaking it.
Post-Grade Photo
Once the grading and sealing process is complete, each card is photographed with professional equipment to highlight its final condition in its case. These high-quality photos document the card's appearance after grading.
By showcasing your card at its best, you can use these photos to highlight your card during a transaction. If you chose this option, these images will appear on the grading verification page.
Shipping
For each shipment, we perform a final check of each encapsulated card and ensure it is perfectly protected.
Once your package is picked up and scanned by the carrier, you are automatically informed that processing is complete.
From that moment, the package is under the full responsibility of the carrier. If you want coverage in case of damage or loss by the carrier, we offer to insure your package with the transport insurance option.
Your package benefits from full traceability throughout its journey.
