Shopping online can be convenient, but it is essential to choose your platform carefully to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Here is what you need to know before buying a card online.
Vinted or Ebay are popular platforms for clothes and second-hand items, but they present several risks for card buyers:
• No proper protection : Vinted does not verify card authenticity, and disputes are often poorly handled in case of fraud.
• Often overpriced : Some sellers take advantage of novice buyers by overpricing common cards.
• Condition not guaranteed : Descriptions can be vague (“fair condition”, “small defects”), and photos do not always show the real flaws.
• Counterfeit problem (fakes) : Many fake cards (notably low-cost reproductions or home prints) circulate on Vinted, especially for rare pieces.
If you buy on Vinted, check the seller carefully (ratings, history) and ask for additional photos from all angles.
